Welcome!
In previous days, at the beginning of the 20th, the famous founder of AEG (Allgemeine Elektricitaets-Gesellschaft – German producer of electrical equipment), Emil Rathenau, resided here along the banks of the river Spree – in the direct vicinity of a gigantic industrial agglomeration of factories operating in the electrical and metal industry. At that time, the multi-storeyed factories, production halls, tenement- and administrative buildings counted to the state-of-the-art architecture of that gone era.
Nowadays, behind these distinctive yellow brick walls of the Rathenau Halls, where formerly the Kabelwerk Oberspree - KWO (cable-manufacturing plant) used to be housed in, a constant transformation of the traditional industrial terrain towards a modern business location is advancing. This location is oriented towards research & development, the service-, film- and media-industry. Presently, Wilhelminenhofstrasse serves as a hub for culture, science, technologies and for business startups.
Today, the property at Wilhelminenhofstrasse 83 to 85 - formerly AEG Transformatorenfabrik –TRO (transformer factory) – is owned by Toruro GmbH & Co.KG. The site counting round 23,000 square metres located between the river Spree and Wilhelminenhofstrasse features an ensemble of buildings that had been erected between 1894 and 1941. The entire terrain is listed under monument protection.
Please learn more about the manifold utilization possibilities of our location by referring to the Development Plan.
